Natural Flight
Icarus, despite his failings to use good adhesive, gives us a direction to strive for - flight where we are able to use our own bodies to traverse the heavens. By ever-increasing improvements in the power-to-weight ratio of our devices, we are closer than ever to achieving this goal.
While initial prototypes may be cumbersome and not resemble our temporarily happy Icarus above, modern materials science at present is capable of building such wings on budget.
Core components:
1. Bionic flight software emulates natural winged flight mechanisms
2. Human interface codifies user output into a predictable, safe flight control
3. Simplicity - at its core, the system operates seamlessly - like riding a bicycle
